This version received new cylinder heads with 3 increased diameter exhaust ports per head, variable intake valve timing and Subaru’s AVLS (Active Valve Lift System) which allows the intake camshafts to change to and from a more aggressive lobe profile at a pre-determined RPM to increase high-rpm performance, and as such, an increased rev limit of 7100rpm, a drive-by-wire throttle, and AVCS. It was available in manual and automatic unlike the old EZ30D. The throttle body diameter was increased to 3″ over the previous 2.75″ and the intake manifold is formed from glass filled nylon allowing for much smoother airflow.
